On Wednesday, October 23, at the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Village at Ed Gould Plaza, a panel of tenured professionals from across a variety of industries will discuss the realities faced by lesbian, bisexual, and queer women in the workplace. Entitled Women’s Work: Perspectives on the Highs, Lows, and Where’d We Go?, the panel is co-sponsored by the Center and PwC and is part of a year-long celebration of the Center’s 50th Anniversary—one in a series of Big Queer Convo devoted to documenting the impact of LGBT people in various industries over the last half-century.
The panelists include Leslie O’Harrow, Tax Partner, PwC; Marquita Thomas, Executive Director, Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce; Lucinda Moorhead, TV Agent, United Talent Agency and Center Board Member; and Laura Luna P, Electric Utility Regulatory Project Analyst, Community Builder, and Cultural Curator. The panel will be moderated by Terra Russell-Slavin, Director, Policy and Community Building at the Center.
“From pay equity to harassment and unfair stereotypes, there’s still so much that needs to be done to achieve true parity in the workplace for women. At the same time, many LBQ women face additional barriers at work because of invisibility and discrimination. Our voices must be part of this broader conversation,” said Russell-Slavin. “Our panelists are LBQ voices from across a variety of industries. Their experiences and perspectives will illuminate current realities, including were we have succeeded while helping us set collective benchmarks about where were need to go as a community.”
A networking reception will be hosted by PwC at The Village courtyard following the panel discussion.
