I came to work at the Center because I wanted to be in a position to help the community and be connected to an organization that cares about justice and fairness—especially toward the LGBTQ+ and other marginalized communities.
As a licensed psychologist, I’ve had the opportunity to join the Trans Behavioral Health Program to support some of our interns creating a therapy group specifically serving the needs of the Center’s Black clients.
I’ve had the unique experience of starting a new job during a pandemic and meeting my supervisors and several colleagues only through a computer screen. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work remotely and to be given the resources to complete my work responsibilities.
I’ve learned that, even in a pandemic, it’s possible to change course in my career, and I’m grateful to be a part of an organization that embodies so much of my values. I’m also encouraged that the clients we serve have so many opportunities to receive virtual services at this time.
Working at the Center has given me the hope that people can have the resources to not only survive this difficult time in our history but also to thrive and become the best version of themselves. The vast number of services we offer in so many different areas helps me feel like I’m part of the solution to so many of the problems plaguing our society right now.
