As a recovering addict who has been sober for 16 years, I pray to God on a daily basis to use me as a tool to help others like myself who are in the place where I’ve been in a past: hopeless and feeling like there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
I’m here to assist anyone who comes to the Trans Wellness Center (TWC). My job involves helping people connect with services such as mental health, primary care, housing, employment, or getting into treatment.
I love coming to work because I am able to give back. I know that the need is there for my community because when it comes to LGBT, the T is the one that is way behind. I have experience from working for 12 years with the trans community—trans women, trans men, and nonbinary folks.
On Fridays, I go to the Youth Center and work with trans youth. That brings me a lot of pride and joy because I’m able to touch lives in a different way than I do at TWC. On those days, I am working with people who are younger and are going through what I have gone through in my life.
