The Future is Black 2023: Renaissance

This year, for the first time since the pandemic, the Center is bringing back our Black History Month celebration – The Future Is Black, a cultural summit and community celebration.
The evening’s program includes award presentations, panel discussions, live podcast recording, interactive portrait studios, and a mini-ball reception.
4:30 p.m. – Mixer & food trucks
6 p.m. – Program begins – Hosted by Tre’vell Anderson & Jarrett Hill of “FANTI” podcast.
6 p.m. – Bayard Rustin Award presentation to Big Freedia.
6:15 p.m. – Keynote Conversation with Big Freedia and Amber Whittington
7:45 p.m. – “America Has a Problem ” – A conversation hosted by the Center’s Oliver Delgado with special guest Capri Maddox, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department.
8:30 p.m. – Cocktail party & mini-ball
